Apple-Berry Crisp Breakfast Quinoa Bowl (a make-ahead breakfast!)
A breakfast quinoa bowl is the perfect way to start the day. This one can be made ahead and reheated. The fruit flavors of Apple-Berry Crisp make it an instant family favorite.
Make-ahead breakfasts save my mornings all the time. I routinely make oatmeal the night before using this hot method or this cold method. I also make pancakes (usually pancakes that are full of fruit and nuts like these) on the weekend. A big batch. And then I wrap each one in plastic wrap and pop them all into a zip top bag and freeze them. On a weekday morning I unwrap however many I need and warm them in the microwave. Quick, hearty and delicious.
This Apple-Berry Crisp Quinoa Breakfast recipe is make-ahead in the same way. I make the quick-cooked apple and berry mixture ahead of time. And I make the quinoa ahead of time too (sometimes I use leftovers from dinner earlier in the week). Then for breakfast all you need to do is warm everything up and you’ve got a healthy, protein-packed, fruit-filled breakfast that your whole family will love.
Why is my recipe over at the Produce for Kids site? Last year, Produce for Kids and I worked together to come up with family-friendly healthy recipes. I developed 7 recipes for them and photographed those and a whole bunch more. This year we’re teaming up again with another round of healthy recipes to share with you. I’ll be telling you all about these new recipes in the weeks ahead.
Produce for Kids is a healthy family resource that offers meal planning tools and healthy recipes for your family. All of the recipes are approved by a registered dietitian for containing all the nutrients your kids need (and not too much of the things they don’t). All nutritional info for each recipe is given as well.
